Relationship Bombs

Bombs bursting in air, and in all our affairs
all through the night, even into daylight
Bombs bursting in air, and in all our affairs
friendly and foreign, near home and far from
bombs bursting in air
father to mother and lover to wife to innocent life

The echo of anger is heard through our lives
from
kids in their bedrooms, to teens in their turmoil
to the
turmoil of oil, Tomahawks, and torture

The new altar of culture is an altar of hate
from altar to altar we change our fate
from the pulpit of this global estate
of
churches and states
the sermon of hate reiterates
“Till death do us part”
its summons
delivers
another form that’s the norm
and takes our heart apart
a la
Descartes

“Till death do us part”  is heard ‘til it hurts
from
homefronts and houseboats to foreign ports it
explodes
putting
holes in our homilies, “To give peace a chance”
hurtling heat-seeking messages
from bedroom to bedroom and border to border
the living room’s filled
with
relationship bombs

Relationship bombs
bursting through bedrooms, borders, and doors
this
killing, kicking, and scratching and all-out attacking
is reaching a
point on our planet
where
the temperature’s rising
in heads in homes, to hands, to lands
this
altering
of
relations
is
of course
our time bomb
